Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announces Star-Studded Class of 2024
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its latest class of inductees, welcoming a diverse group of musical icons including Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Mary J. Blige, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Cher's induction marks a historic moment as she enters the Hall of Fame after a career spanning six decades. The legendary performer, who first rose to fame as part of Sonny & Cher in the 1960s, has established herself as one of entertainment's most enduring and versatile artists.
Dave Matthews Band, who has built a devoted following through extensive touring and their unique blend of rock, jazz, and world music influences, finally enters the Hall after previously being nominated in 2020. The band's induction recognizes their significant impact on the live music scene and their innovative approach to rock music.
The 2024 class also celebrates various musical genres, with Mary J. Blige representing R&B, Kool & the Gang bringing funk and soul, and Ozzy Osbourne entering as a solo artist (having previously been inducted with Black Sabbath).
The induction ceremony will take place in Cleveland later this year, continuing the tradition of honoring artists who have made lasting contributions to popular music. To be eligible for induction, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to nomination.
This year's inductees were chosen through a combination of votes from industry professionals, historians, and music fans worldwide, reflecting both critical acclaim and popular impact in the field of rock and roll.
